Kerry tells grads to prepare for ‘borderless world’

Secretary of State John Kerry took a shot at Donald Trump during his Friday commencement speech at Northeastern University, by saying no wall is big enough to keep dangerous terrorists out of the United States. Kerry also seemed to dismiss the importance of national borders, and said technology has reshaped the world into one that the U.S. must engage at the risk of being left behind. He said Trump and others who want to look inward are making a mistake, even in the face of rising tension and violence in the world.

“For some people, that is all they need simply to climb under the sheets, close their eyes and push the world away,” Kerry said. “And shockingly, we even see this attitude from some who think they ought to be entrusted with the job of managing international affairs.” “The future demands from us something more than a nostalgia for some rose-tinted version of the past that did not really exist in any case,” he said. “You’re about to graduate into a complex and borderless world.”

New Jersey Withdraws from Federal Refugee Resettlement Program

Gov. Chris Christie has withdrawn the state of New Jersey from participation in the U.S. Refugee Resettlement program, and Obama administration officials are working quickly to claim the federal government can continue to resettle refugees in the Garden State.

“Federal officials held a conference call Friday morning [April 22] with representatives of nonprofit groups who help refugees resettle in New Jersey, a process that will no longer have the participation of Gov. Chris Christie’s administration,” New Jersey 101.5 reported.

Rep. Luis Gutierrez is calling on President Barack Obama to give Ecuadorans in the United States permission to remain here while their country recovers from an April 16 earthquake that left nearly 700 people dead and thousands injured and homeless.

In a letter sent to Obama on Monday, the Illinois Democrat said Ecuadorans qualify for Temporary Protected Status, or TPS, which a president may grant to nationals of a country that has experienced a crisis from natural disasters or conflict.

Children of refugees get more federal benefits than poor U.S. kids

America loves kids, but Uncle Sam has a favorite: children of refugees.

Among recipients of food stamps, welfare cash and Social Security payments, refugee children receive more in taxpayer-funded aid than children of citizens, according to a new report on federal spending from the pro-immigration Migration Policy Institute.

For example, 30 percent of refugee children live in households that received food stamps from 2009-13. Among American children, the number was 27 percent, said the report titled, “Young Children of Refugees in the United States: Integration Successes and Challenges.”

Nebraska allows state licenses for thousands of immigrants

Nebraska will allow thousands of immigrants brought to the U.S. illegally as children to work in at least 170 professions that require state licenses including health care and education after lawmakers overrode conservative Republican Gov. Pete Ricketts’ veto of the measure on Wednesday.

Senators took the vote on the last day of their legislative session, five days after Ricketts called it unfair to immigrants who followed the legal pathway to citizenship. Young immigrants and other supporters erupted in applause from the gallery of the chamber following the 31-13 vote.

Prison Reform bill likely releases criminal aliens into U.S. communities

This is another clear signal that the globalists in Washington, D.C. are working to fundamentally change America into a third world country through the Cloward-Piven strategy. Combined with open borders and bringing in 100s of thousands of refugees, we are close to losing control of our country. Senate bill S.2123 and in the House, H.R. 3713 would result in the release of tens of thousands of criminal aliens convicted of certain federal crimes back into the streets of local communities. The bills would retroactively reduce the minimum sentencing requirements for all individuals (regardless of their citizenship or immigration status) convicted of certain federal crimes. It would only apply to federal prisons, which comprise 9% of the entire incarcerated population in the United States.

Its impact on reforming sentencing guidelines for U.S. citizens would be minimal. In a letter sent to Sen. Jeff Sessions last fall, the Federal Bureau of Prisons reported that 77% of individuals convicted of federal drug possession charges and more than 25% of individuals convicted of federal drug trafficking charges in FY2015 were non-citizens.

In October of 2015, the Obama Administration released 6,600 inmates from federal prison after the U.S. Sentencing Commission revised its guidelines. One-third of those released were non-citizens. Shortly before the release, the Center for Immigration Studies uncovered a letter written by 14 immigration-expansionist organizations to the Department of Homeland Security, pleading with the Administration to consider the criminal aliens for prosecutorial discretion under Pres. Obama’s 2014 executive actions. The full letter can be read here.

Supreme Court rules in redistricting case: Illegal immigrants can be counted

A unanimous Supreme Court ruled Monday that illegal immigrants and other noncitizens can be counted when states draw their legislative districts, shooting down a challenge by Texas residents who said their own voting power was being diluted. The ruling does not grant noncitizens the power to vote, but says the principle of one person, one vote doesn’t require localities to only count those who are actually eligible to vote when they are deciding how many people to put inside of each district.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, writing for the court, said even though only eligible voters are supposed to cast ballots, elected officials represent all people within their districts, and it is that act of representation, not the election itself, that the boundaries are drawn to.

But conservatives and those who want to see a crackdown on illegal immigration said the ruling could entice even more communities to become sanctuary cities, shielding illegal immigrants in an attempt to attract more nonvoters and build their political clout.

Immigrant population over 15% in record 16 states, over 25% in 6

One third of the nation’s 50 states now have immigrant populations over 15 percent, with six over 25 percent, raising new questions about the country’s ability to absorb the immigrant flood in schools and the job market, a new report on government immigration data said.

The new Center for Immigration Studies analysis of the 61 million immigrants and their children now in America revealed the speed at how the nation’s population has changed since 1970.

Trump effigy set ablaze in Mexico

An effigy of US presidential contender Donald Trump — a hated figure for many in Mexico — was set ablaze in a contemporary twist on a Holy Week ritual. A smiling figure of the billionaire American businessman went up in flames during the Easter eve “Burning of Judas,” a tradition in which Mexicans torch effigies of the devil — and of public figures they dislike.

About 200 people attended the event late Saturday, in which a six-foot (two-meter) papier-mache likeness of Trump wearing a blue suit, white shirt and red tie was torched. The figure was created by Felipe Linares, who has been making effigies for more than 50 years at a workshop founded by his father in the early 20th century. Linares told AFP the likeness of Trump was chosen “because we don’t like him. He speaks ill of Mexicans.”

Top conservatives gather to plot third-party run against Trump

Three influential leaders of the conservative movement have summoned other top conservatives for a closed-door meeting Thursday in Washington, D.C., to talk about how to stop Donald Trump and, should he become the Republican nominee, how to run a third-party “true conservative” challenger in the fall.

The organizers of the meeting include Bill Wichterman, who was President George W. Bush’s liaison to the conservative movement; Bob Fischer, a South Dakota businessman and longtime conservative convener; and Erick Erickson, the outspoken Trump opponent and conservative activist who founded RedState.com.
